Less Privacy is Good for Us (and You)

In this article Etzioni came across some really good points when she talks about privacy in America. But I do agree with the point she is trying to make. She is basically using "sarcastic humor" in her article. What I mean by that is, she is makeing points on how the world doesn't give us enough privacy. For instance when she says " courts have allowed mandatory drug testing of those who directly have the lives of others in their hands" thats a good thing to do because you don't want anyone coming to work high, but still whos business is it anyway if you do drugs or not?

The question I have been asked is How does Etzioni's article help readers to see the complexity of privacy issues? My answer to that is, it helps me see the issue of the government just trying to be in everybodies business. Somethings are meant to be secret and by reading this article it helps me see that the government goes above and beyond to know what you up too. Things like drug testing and background checks are nessasary when you have a job dealing with other human beings, but do they need to know that if your just a electrican? I will never understand the government.

Immokalee

I have learned alot in these two videos. I didn't know so much has originated from Immokalee, fl. In these videos Hispanics and Native Americans were mainly represented in the videos. Its showed us how they came about and what they did to make Immokalee what it is today. Immokalee differs from Fort Myers so much. I was born and raised here and i have never know of this city grown crops or forming another industry like the Native Americans did for Immokalee.

In my opinion Immokalee is more like the "New" American Dream. What i mean by that is there showing that they have come to america for a purpose and is to get the job done so they could support there families. They weren't trying to buy fancy cars and big houses, they were makeing a names for themselves by growing crops and i dont think they realized it. In 10 years i think Immokalle would be bigger and better with more crops and more tourist sooner or later im going to be makeing a trip down to the growing city!
